Project summary: At 735 Homer Avenue, 1500 square feet of a 2200 square foot (180-foot long) asphalt driveway were replaced with permeable materials. The 470-square foot concrete back patio was broken into large pieces that were reused to make a permeable surface. Rooftop runoff from Building 1 (520 square feet) drains to a rain garden, and runoff from portions of Buildings 2, 3, and 4 (580 square feet) drain to an underground gravel-filled trench that runs the length of the driveway. Based on the estimate that at least 10 inches out of the annual average rainfall of 16 inches/year are absorbed, runoff from this property is reduced by a total of 25,000 gallons/year.
